My name is Steve, and I am the author of FX Stream.  I am an experienced FX trader and have been working independently for several years now after working in the corporate world for some time.  Previous to my independent work I held several positions at a couple major investment banks here in New York, and one, longer position at a notable hedge fund based in Connecticut.

Two years ago, I started my blog http://www.nobrainertrades.com out of  boredom from my independent labor.  I was trading full-time for myself and had a lot of ideas that I figured wouldn’t hurt sharing.  Initially, I simply posted basic support and resistance levels that would act as market turning points.  As time progressed, I found myself writing about other strategies, psychology, risk, and a wide range of other related concepts.  Over these past two years I have met some great people and never would have realized that starting a blog would have been so rewarding.

Learning Through Repetition

During my blogging period I noticed a void of clear instruction in terms of trading, particularly among those seeking to advance their skills and didn’t work in the markets full-time.  Most materials relating to trading strategies are all written, and hands-on instruction can be extremely expensive.  We have TV shows for just about everything imaginable but not one will actually teach you trading skills, and I find that people learn best by hearing and observing repetition over and over again.

Someone to Trade With

Financial news channels discuss, well, just that: news.  Guest speakers are commonly invited in to give their outlook for the markets and they provide it in broad strokes to the millions of listeners that tune in every day.  But there aren’t any that will go through real time motions in the market.  It is simply good to have someone else there to raise your awareness to certain technical levels, news events, etc, that you might have missed, or provide an alternative view on the impact of recent news events.

Building a Community

It is important to have a consistent, regular community of traders around you while you work for some obvious reasons.  While everyone works on different experience levels and shares different outlooks from time to time, having an “idea bank” comes in handy when you’re questioning your own perception of the market.  Building interactivity online is becoming more and more popular lately, and while we have the tools available there is no reason not to use them for our benefit.

And so primarily due to these factors just listed, FX-Stream.com was born.  This site is intended as a means of filling a void in the market by providing an interactive platform for novice, intermediate and experienced traders alike.  It is an extension of my daily work, a hobby and a pleasure to be able to share ideas with so many people across the globe.
